Permanent Fixed Dentures in Jerusalem
Permanent Fixed Dentures (hybrid dentures) are a high-quality solution for replacing lost natural teeth. These teeth may have been lost due to trauma, multiple tooth extractions caused by a gum disease, or other dental conditions. While they may resemble other types of dentures, such as permanent removable dentures, these are securely installed over dental implants that are embedded into the jawbone, making them a fixed and reliable rehabilitation solution.
Permanent fixed dentures can range from single dental crowns to braces or full sets of teeth for patients who have lost all teeth in one or both jaws.
Installing Permanent Fixed Dentures
For patients requiring only a few fixed teeth (e.g., a crown to replace an extracted tooth), a titanium implant is surgically placed into the jawbone, and a dental crown is secured on top. This process is similar to that used for partial dentures.
In cases where a full set of teeth is needed, multiple dental implants are placed. This can involve four implants (as with the All-On-4 system) or six implants (using the All-On-6 system), which we recommend for added stability. The implants are surgically positioned by an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon, who carefully prepares the designated sites for each implant. After a recovery period of a few months, the fixed dentures are securely attached to the implants.
Advantages of Permanent Fixed Dentures
The primary advantage of permanent fixed dentures over removable dentures is their superior stability. Because they are attached to implants embedded in the jawbone, they provide a natural feel and function. Patients can chew comfortably, speak clearly, and smile confidently without worrying about their teeth shifting or slipping.
Due to these advantages, permanent fixed dentures are often referred to as the “Mercedes of dental rehabilitation,” as described by Dr. Heisler, a leading Jerusalem Dentist. While these dentures are artificial, they still require diligent care, including proper tooth brushing and gum maintenance to ensure their longevity.
